A luxurious retreat at Casa da Calçada Relais & Chateaux awaits

High quality and low prices are two things that simply don’t mix, right? Wrong! We’re bringing you a fantastic deal to the five‑star Casa da Calçada Relais & Chateaux in Amarante ‑ and the price is so good we almost want to keep it to ourselves… Boasting the highly established Relais & Chateaux brand that we all know and love, Casa da Calçada is nothing short of an opulent palace surrounded by the beauty of nature, offering a delectable gastronomic experience at its Michelin‑starred restaurant, and providing guests with heavenly accommodation options that make you feel right at home. Oh, and did we mention we’re throwing in a complimentary afternoon tea and 15% off lunch or dinner at the Canto Redondo Restaurant?

The boutique Casa da Calçada Relais & Chateaux is in the town of Amarante, between Porto and the remote Douro Valley, where port wine is produced. Built in the 16th century, the former manor house has a Michelin‑starred restaurant where you can enjoy the vinho verde wines that the hotel produces, as well as a bar overlooking the hotel vineyards. Other facilities include a tennis court, games room, 18‑hole golf course, luxurious spa and two swimming pools ‑ one for adults and one for children. You can also hire a bike to cycle around the surrounding 100‑year‑old gardens and farmland. Baroque and neoclassical design elements are noticeable throughout the palatial building, particularly in the luxurious bedrooms. The hotel is in a beautiful spot on the banks of the Támega River, ideal for exploring northern Portugal and making the most out of your fantastic escape.

The exact date of construction of this rustic house is unknown, although by the architectural style and archaeological evidence, it is thought to be late 17th or early 18th century. This farm setting in the most northerly village of Portugal is close to the Peneda-Gerês National Park, rendering a most picturesque location. Nestled within a mountain region rich in flora and fauna, this traditional country house provides accommodation in a pleasant atmosphere, bringing its guests closely in touch with the natural environment of this region. A swimming pool and library and a small museum complete the attention given to detail. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and the nearby spa in Melgaço offers a range of relaxing and therapeutic treatments.
